The Greenspun College of Urban Affairs Alumni Chapter hosts their annual alumni reception Nov. 4 in the Greenspun Hall lobby, honoring the College’s Alumna of the Year Hannah Birch (2012).

Hannah Birch was part of The Seattle Times’ team that won a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news with its coverage of Washington’s 2014 mudslide.

The homecoming mixer celebrates Birch and also brings back alumni to allow them to reconnect with their fellow graduates. Hey Reb! will make a special guest appearance, and entertainment includes social media contests, food trucks and live music.

College members hope annual events such as this one will encourage alumni to become integrated with current students.

“The event celebrates our alumni accomplishments and gives them an opportunity to network and reunite with classmates, faculty and staff,” said Robert R. Ulmer, dean of the College of Urban Affairs. “Our Greenspun grads have always been dedicated to service and making a difference in their communities. We hope our alumni stay connected with the college and find ways to give back, whether to mentor current students or volunteer on the alumni board.”
